About Me
This page is currently (pretty much continuously) under construction. That's probably
because I am, too. Nevertheless, here are a few things about me. If you have
any specific questions, just email me.
I am not a full time storm chaser. Very few of us are. Most who can claim they
are, are research scientists for the government, and even they have other work for when
there aren't any storms. I began storm chasing in 1997, combining two of my
favorite things: a love of weather (especially severe weather), and photography.
At present, I do not have a chase partner. In the past, I have chased with
Matt Crowther (of the Weather Channel), and Steve Sponsler (who works at Cape Canaveral
in Florida), as well as a few others. During the spring,
I usually chase in the Great Plains (Tornado Alley) for at least a couple of weeks, then later in
the year, I chase the monsoon storms of the desert, primarily for the lightning.
This year, due to work-related time constraints (and the godawful high price of gas), I probably won't be able
to do a plains trip. I do plan on chasing the monsoon in both New Mexico and
Arizona, though.
While I'm not actively looking for a new partner, if you are an experienced chaser, with at least
a few years under your belt, and are decent at forecasting, field observation, and
severe storm morphology, and you need a ride, then drop me a note.
Professionally, I'm a web designer. I'm also a novelist, awaiting publication of
my first and second novels. The first is science-fiction, and the second (currently
in revision/editing) is (big surprise) about storm chasing. Sort of.
I have a number of other hobbies as well; just click on the Diversions button on the left
for more info.
